McCain Says "We Are All Georgians"

Tue Aug 12, 2008 at 09:46:42 AM PDT

That's what John McCain just said in his "town hall meeting". I saw it live on CNN.

Funny, I don't feel like a Georgian; I feel more like a "citizen of the world", which happens to include Georgia. But that's just me. Oh, and Obama, and millions of others who've had to watch John McCain and the republican shills beating Barack over the head since he appealed to US allies in Europe -- say, 200,000 Germans, for example.

And, as expected, McCain's rhetoric shifted immediately to the kind of propaganda the repubs can pump.

Gag Me With a Spore

What world do these stupid pundits inhabit? I walk in from a long night at work, turn on MSNBC (starring blowhard "Morning Joe"), and there's said Joe, badgering Susan Rice about the alleged strength or alleged weakness of the alleged terror troupe known generally as "Al Qaeda". Or "Al Queda". Or "Al Qaida". Depends on how funky you feel at the keyboard, I suppose.

The Very Important Question being pundited about was, to paraphrase, if Bush and Cheney are such morons, then why haven't we been attacked since 9-11?

Why do they consistently ignore the fact that we have, indeed, been attacked since 9-11? Well, some of us have -- mostly Democrats, who didn't die; and one unfortunate tabloid photographer, who did; plus an odd civilian or journalist, or two.

It's Not Yours To Give Away

Sat Jun 21, 2008 at 07:25:04 PM PDT

A little over 200 years ago, a cabal of radicals, liberals, libertarians, freedom fighters, Christians, Atheists, and independent thinkers, declared their right to sever ties to their homeland. Although this coalition was underfunded, malnourished, and poorly armed compared to the awesome might of the British Empire, together, they fought and died to establish their independence, and to form a new nation.

Over the next few years, these rogues, these imperfect champions, these terrorists in the eyes of the Crown, these extraordinary mortals who would likely spit in the faces of our current "leaders", managed to hammer out a Constitution which acknowledged (for they did not "grant" us anything) the rights and principles of liberty inherent in all enlightened human existence.

don't be so "cerebral"

Now, every time I think I've heard it all, I get a brand new gift from the Gods of Irony.

For several days, we've been carpet-bombed by another Obama "issue". This one relates to his "elitism", as evidenced by "his 'bitter' remarks", to quote the corporate media message.

Well, if that wasn't enough, get a load of this...

Barack's Awesome Burden

Fri Apr 04, 2008 at 02:44:21 PM PDT

I've always been lifted up by Barack Obama's speeches. I've been struck dumb by his intelligence, humbled by his charisma, and inspired by his sense of hope, his grasp of culture, his easy ability to let the metaphorical stones bounce off him as he tosses back pearls.

But today was the first time he brought a little mist to my eyes. As he spoke of change, and hope, and struggle, all as a backdrop to the anniversary of the death of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., I began to consider the incredible responsibility Barack Obama is taking upon himself in this election year.

The Bug Zapper Myth

Sat Mar 01, 2008 at 03:04:29 AM PDT

I believe it was Pat Buchannon, though I could be wrong. It was a comment he made on MSNBC, following the last Democratic debate. The loose quote is that if another "terrorist attack" occurs on American soil between now and November, people will flock to John McCain. John McCain says he'll stay in Iraq for another hundred years, or more, to keep America "safe" by denying "Al Queda" the opportunity to set up a base of operations there.

This is just one of the hammers the GOP (Greed, Oligarchy, Privelege) has used, and will continue to use, against the Democratic candidates who propose withdrawal from Iraq.

It's time to slam the doors on this absurdity, and stop letting fears of terrorism rule our lives, run our government, and destroy our Constitution.

Okay, fine. Get out

Tue Feb 05, 2008 at 02:58:50 AM PDT

That's right. Take your money, your companies, your golden-parachuted executives, your stock options, your subsidiaries, and get the hell out.

The republican talking points deliver the message to their "base" that we (progressives, 'the left', Democrats) are merely communists, socialists, Stalinists, fascists (haha, the irony), and general haters of America, who despise capitalism and the "free market".

But that's incorrect. I think what we really hate is the Amerika these guys have created. We're seeing the fruits of their policies all around us, and I think it's past time to do something about it.

Shut up, Tucker

Thu Jan 24, 2008 at 04:52:30 PM PDT

Really, just shut the hell up. Get off the TV, you loser. And, while you're at it, take the rest of the dinosaurs with you.

I watch you occasionally, just to be amused at how utterly stupid and inflammatory a person can be, and still make a living as a "pundit". But you and yours are crossing the lines of common decency.

What is this "conservative" thing about, anyway?

Thu Dec 13, 2007 at 04:16:38 PM PDT

I was watching this Republican blatherfest they called a "debate" on MSNBC the other day, and I sat slack-jawed, wondering what the hell it is these people want. I'm hearing a lot of fancy rhetoric, and some channeling of the "founding fathers", but, mostly, I just hear a steady stream of absurdity.

Mr. Hannity, There Seems To Be A Misunderstanding

Fri Oct 05, 2007 at 01:10:11 PM PDT

Most weekdays, I listen to your show for about forty minutes on my afternoon commute. I like to keep up with what's going on in the rightwing mind, and you seem to be one of the outstanding representatives of this phenomenon. You inspired me to write this rant with your latest diatribe on liberals, and their constant attacks on freedom of speech.

Stop Defending; Stop Apologizing

Fri Sep 14, 2007 at 10:58:46 PM PDT

Contrary to the frothing lunacy of the rightwing noise makers, we are America, and we owe no apologies, and we have nothing to be ashamed of. We are the real America, not the one in fuzzy, black-and-white, Beaver Cleaver memories; not the one glorified in patriotic anthems; not the one bastardized and idolized in slanted versions of history written by the winners; not the one portrayed as a 'shining light on a hill' for the rest of the world to envy.

Madame Speaker, what game is this?

Sun Aug 05, 2007 at 02:31:50 PM PDT

Madame Speaker has written a letter to the House Judiciary and Intelligence Committees, requesting that they convene as quickly as possible (after vacation, of course) to amend the FISA legislation they just green-lighted.

Forgive my stupidity, but I don't know how this game works.
